Hey all. I want to get a small printer to go with this laptop. I won't be doing anything n color really, but if I do want color I want the cartridges to be easy to fix. I just want a compact printer don't care what brand or if its lazer or ink jet. thanks for any help.
May I recommend the HP 460 printer. They come in a variety of flavers from basic to bluetooth ans wifi. The neet thinkg is if you by the basic you can buy the ad ons later such as a bluetooth card, a wifi card and a battery. I bought the basic because I don't need the other stuff but when I do it's available and I can purchase it. The print is clean and people feel it's of excellent quality. I am running it off the Powerbook G4 Apple Mac(why do I all of a sudden se wildebrue jabbing a pointy object between my eyes?) This will also run on a PC and comes with drivers for both. The cartrages are easy to replace as well. I bought it not for portableity but because I wanted something small on my desk. It is connected by USB and does not offer serial or parellel connectivity. Give it a try you'll love it.Oh, did I say fits in the larger laptop bags? Hmmm, and if you buy one of those cannoscann lide60 or 70 scanners wow, you can have a whole office in one bag.
Hi, ok I'll look into that. does it take plane paper? I'm thinking the batter would be good since the power strip's onthe other side of the L shape of the desk and the nearest outlet's got my scanner which doesn't qite work yet and then my tv plugged in. Would you please give me a few sites to try and get a price for this? thanks so mch.
Damn it willy, take that macBook and stick it where the sun don't shine, now I realize that is most likely taken to bean Portland, Oregon, I've heard it rains there every day, lol.
Wonder if they have blue tooth all in one type of scanner printer thingy, that would be something. I just got some HP combo or other for $200, not overly big, good scanner, connects via iethernet so you don't have to hook it up to the usb ports and it can also be accessed by any computer on the wireless network, which is confy.
Hmmm, Always wanted to visit there!!!. I hear it's a really nice state this time of year. As far as sites I would try amazon.com or staples.com. you should find it there. Sir Brue, is this combo portable or standard size? What OCR software are you using with it?
Yeah, I've never been to the land of Port myself, wonder if the land of White Wine wouldn't be a better place to vitis.
The combo is standard size, nothing special, got it of Amazon for $200 ish, I have a cheapo version of Omnipage that I have yet to try out, I'd like to get Omnipage Pro but it is not particularly cheap.
There are a few OCRs out there though so if someone could point me to a cheaper or better alternative that's always a good thing.
We all have a choice, heck, even Macs might become a viable alternative one of these days, even if I am trying to keep poor Bill happy and able to afford a Sonic burger from time to time.
Ouch, was that sarcastic optomism I am hearing? Actually, I really don't like omnipage pro any more. It used to be a very easy package to use and could scan directly in to M-S-Word but now it is complex and in my opinion offers too much to deal with. Believe it or not Omnipage SE that comes with some scanners actually does the trick. simple, easy, and really nothing to configure. Also, omnipage tech support is a waste of your time. So, now you ask what would I recommend? Go to www.readingmadeeasy.com and try a demo of either the complete reading system or text cloner pro. The difference is that the reading system is self voiceing and the cloner is not and requires a screen reader. The packages are reasonably priced, the tech support is excellent and the products do what they say they will do. no more no less. (why don't they make them for mac?wine,wine,wine,wine..... I recommended text cloner to a client. They wanted to read tables. it scanned the table quite accurately and after saving it as a word file and opening it in word the Jaws table reading commands worked well. It's about $100. Woof,woof...
Brilliant, I shall have a look. Yes, I actually did get Omnipage SE at work, got it a few weeks ago but, like alwaysw with this job, somehow I haven't gotten to test it yet, stuck in Excel to Oracle function convertions and no hand outs yet to read.
I'll make sure to check out the other package and test my SE soon though.
Long live the Macs, MacDonnalds, MacMuffins and MacGates.
hahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!! cute!!!!! let me know what you thik of the other packages...
wow did this go off tipic lol but when doesn't it. I did look at that priner, pricing it around and it looks pretty good i just don't know if I want to shell out two hunded bucks. thanks for the help though, I'll still see what's around.
Well, vel.
If you don't care what type of printer you get, if you want an all in one type of machine that is not that small, Ihave two at the house in Charlotte that I am just going to throw out eventually.
It'll cost some $30 or $40 to ship probably, but if you are interested feel free to private message me or whatever and I can see if I can arrange it wth our renter to ship it to ya.
Thanks but I already have a scanner so no need for it. but if you have a printer a small one, hey I'm not complaining lol
